Volunteer

Would you like to be a part of the Indy Mega Adoption Event on June 23 and 24?

You’ll be helping thousands of Indy-area animals find their forever homes!

Walking dogs, caring for adoptable cats, answering questions, setting up and tearing down. More than 300 volunteers are needed to make this event spectacular and there’s a job for everyone.

All volunteers receive a T-shirt, training and the eternal gratitude of every rescue group (and animal) at the Indy Mega Adoption Event!

THANK YOU for helping us find homes for ALL of Indianapolis’ homeless pets.

All volunteers must be at least 16 years of age.

16-17 yr. olds may not handle animals directly; must have an adult accompanying them.

Volunteers must be 18+ in order to handle animals.

IF YOU SIGN UP, PLEASE REMEMBER WE’RE COUNTING ON YOU!

VOLUNTEER JOB DETAILS:

    • Event Set-Up & Tear Down- Set up chairs, tables and load in and out equipment. It’s not glamorous, but it’s so needed!
    • Greeter/Guest Liaison – You’re the welcome wagon and the know-it-alls. Help pass out maps, explain the adoption process and answer questions. Greeters help us keep track of the number of animals adopted on write on / wipe off boards, too! Choose from a variety of shifts. Take one or more!
    • Dog Caretaker – The perfect job for all of our dog lovers. You’ll be the best friend to man’s best friend by walking, playing with (and cleaning up after) all of the adoptable dogs. Dog Caretakers assist each rescue group and make sure the pups have everything they need.  Lots of shifts to choose from! Please make sure you’re comfortable handling a (excited!) dog 50 lbs.+ and know that ALL DOG VOLUNTEERS MUST ATTEND TRAINING – Even if you’ve done it before. This is required for safety and to update you on rules and protocol.
    • Cat Caretaker – Are you more of a cat person? Prefer purrs to slobbery kisses? Well, sign up here for cat detail. You’ll make sure the cats have food, water and (if they’re into it) a little human interaction. And – you guessed it – keep the box clean. Multiple shifts to fill.

We could use your help spreading the word. The more people that attend, the more animals we can find homes for!
